Stainless steel mesh is not simply one thing. It comes in different grades. The grade is like a recipe that tells you what metals are inside. The most common types are 304 and 316. Grade 304 is a very good, all-purpose steel. It works well for many indoor projects. Grade 316 has an extra metal called molybdenum mixed in. This makes it much better at fighting off rust from salt water or harsh chemicals. Because of this, grade 316 costs more. The weave and mesh count:
Look closely at the mesh. You will see the wires crisscrossing. The way they are woven matters. A simple weave is the most common and usually the most affordable.
